On September 26, 2009 a huge crowd of volunteers, partners, and youth join the Municipality in celebrating the opening of the Campbellford Skatepark.  The project has been a huge success and the park is has already been very well utilized by area skateboard and bmx enthusiasts.  The fundraising efforts are still ongoing to complete the improvements to the park, so please consider contributing to the project, details below.  Here are a few links to local news articles about the skatepark:

History
In 1999, the first set of wooden ramps for the skatepark were built in the Campbellford Arena.  Two years later, the location changed to the Tennis Courts on Trent Drive.  There the ramps were topped with "polyboard" to make them more durable.  Six annual "competitions" for skateboarding, bmx biking and rollerblading were held on the 2nd weekend in September with proceeds going to maintain the park.  The ramps were constantly maintained by volunteers.  In the fall of 2005, the Skatepark Commitee was looking for a solution to the ongoing maintenance of the ramps and sought to build a high quality "concrete" facility.  They held public meetings to determine a location for such a facility in Trent Hills and finally the Kennedy Park was home to this project.  The group has been actively fundraising and has enlisted the services of Landinc for design and consultation with the assistance of the Recreation Department of Trent Hills.  In 2009, a number of community organizations and the Municipal government  collaborated on a plan to Revitalize Kennedy Park.

Revitalizing Kennedy Park provides an ideal project for community collaboration and levering resources.

We Need Your Support to Make it Happen!
We are asking community members to "rally around" this youth inspired project and provide an individual donation.  Project 1 of the Kennedy Park Revitalization (building a skateboard park), is estimated to cost $300,000. The Campbellford Skatepark Group has raised $120,000 towards this project.  Your participation is critical to complete the financing for this new recreation possibility.  We need to raise $80,000 from individual donations.  The Campbellford/Seymour Community Foundation and the Municipality of Trent Hills will match donations to a maximum of $50,000 each.  For example: When you donate $20, it would be matched by $20 from the Municipality and $20 from the Community Foundation.  Therefore, your donation becomes a gift of $60.00.  A tax receipt will be issued for donations of $20 or more.
