Warkworth Skatepark Project

In 2008, a need to create a skatepark space for youth in the Village was identified and a group of local leaders from various organizations and interested youth came together to develop a plan to fundraise and implement a new recreation skatepark facility in Warkworth.
Warkworth Skatepark Now Open During Spring/Summer Season!
Congratulations! The Phase 1 ramps arrived at the Warkworth Arena to a huge community celebration on August 29, 2009. The ramps were in place until September for public use and the response has been tremendous. The Committee that lead the project and the community that support the project demostrated tremendous committment and enthusiasm. The ramps will be stored during the winter and early spring season while the ice is in the arena. Once the ice is removed for the spring & summer the skatepark will be open again to the public. Here are a few links to local newspaper articles about the success of the project:
September 1, 2009 - Phase One of the Skateboard Express pulls into Warkworth - The Community Press
September 1, 2009 - All Abroad Warkworth's Skatepark Express - EMC Newspaper
The project will be developed into two phases:
PHASE I of the Warkworth Skatepark Project plans to use the smooth concrete floor of the Warkworth Arena to act as a foundation for stand-alone moveable components. Use of the canteen, washrooms, lighting, etc at the Arena would be an asset. Staffing arrangements, rules, regulations, etc. to be arranged in partnership with the Municipality of Trent Hills. This phase would accommodate an immediate temporary facility for our youth while waiting for Phase II to be realized. The pieces of equipment from Phase I will be incorporated into the design of Phase II.

PHASE II would be the development of a stand-alone, concrete skatepark. The location is to be determined and a more detailed plan to be developed.
