The Planning and Development Services Department encompasses a Planning Division, Building Division and an Economic Development Division.
The Planning Division oversees the development of all Municipal property. This department operates with a development team focus, which means that each inquiry is addressed individually in order to act efficiently on inquiries for new and expanding business opportunities as well as all planning and development matters. The department is a one-stop venue for all Municipal government services that support the development of industry.
Services offered by the Planning Division include the processing of plans, subdivision, zoning, official plan amendments and site plans. The Planning Division's scope of responsibilities includes urban design such as downtown streetscapes, parks planning, the sale and purchase of Municipal property and the development of Municipal lands in our business park.
The Planning Division also administers the Committee of Adjustment, which considers minor variance and severance matters. Council, other boards, commissions and departments are advised through the Planning Division of applications to change the Official Plan, Zoning By-Law, Housing Policy and other planning documents.
