The Municipality of Trent Hills proclaims September 30, 2026, as National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
This day honours the children who never returned home and the Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of this tragic history and its ongoing impacts is a vital part of the reconciliation process.
September 30 is also Orange Shirt Day, an Indigenous-led grassroots movement to raise awareness of the intergenerational impacts of residential schools and to affirm the message that Every Child Matters.
We encourage everyone to take time for reflection, learning, and recognition

Welcome to the Gunshot Treaty Lands of 1788. It is on these lands and on the shores of the big lake, the Mississauga Anishinabeg met with the Crown to facilitate the opening of these lands for
settlement.
Let us be reminded of the responsibility we all have in making sure that we respect these lands and waters that give us life and sustain our livelihoods.
