November 25, 2025 proclaimed as International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

The Municipality of Trent Hills proclaims November 25, 2025 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

November is Women's Abuse Prevention Month, and our community stands united against gender-based violence. Femicide rates in Ontario are rising, with victims ranging from infants to seniors, and disproportionately impacting Indigenous, Black, South Asian, and Southeast Asian women and girls.

The courage of one woman is not enough — it takes an entire community.
Join us in raising awareness, supporting survivors, and working toward a future free from violence.

Land Acknowledgement

We recognize the traditional keepers of this land and, specifically our neighbours of the Alderville First Nation, with a formal territorial acknowledgement.

Welcome to the Gunshot Treaty Lands of 1788. It is on these lands and on the shores of the big lake, the Mississauga Anishinabeg met with the Crown to facilitate the opening of these lands for
settlement.

Let us be reminded of the responsibility we all have in making sure that we respect these lands and waters that give us life and sustain our livelihoods.
