Voter Information

Election day is Monday, October 26, 2026.

In the Municipality of Trent Hills, you will be able to vote by internet or telephone for Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and Councillors, and a School Board Trustee. 

Municipal elections in Ontario are held every four years, on the fourth Monday in October, and are governed by the Municipal Elections Act. Municipal elections are how residents choose the Mayor and Council who make decisions about local roads, recreation, land use planning, community safety, and other services that affect daily life in the Municipality of Trent Hills. Participating in local elections helps ensure Council reflects the needs and priorities of the community.

Are You Registered to Vote?

All Municipality of Trent Hills residents must be listed on the Register of Voters to cast a ballot in Municipal Elections. You can now register once to vote in both provincial and municipal elections.

Eligibility to Vote

You can vote in the 2026 municipal election if you are:

  • A Canadian citizen
  • At least 18 years old
  • A resident of the Municipality of Trent Hills, or the owner or tenant of land in the Municipaity of Trent Hills, or the spouse of such owner or tenant
  • Not prohibited from voting under any law

The Municipal Elections Act, prohibits the following from voting:

  • A person serving a sentence of imprisonment in a penal or correctional institution 
  • Corporations
  • A person convicted of a corrupt practice described in Section 90(3) of the Municipal Elections Act, if voting day in the current election is less than five years after voting day in the election in respect of which he or she was convicted.

Acceptable forms of identification:

  • Ontario driver's licence
  • Ontario health card (with photo)
  • Ontario photo card
  • Ontario motor vehicle permit (vehicle portion)
  • Mortgage statement, lease or rental agreement
